Whenever you get fever and you are not able to go to a doctor. The best thing is you take a pill or paracetamol or a combination of a paracetamol which are effective in cutting down your fever. One thing I whenever you are having a high fever, you should also do something called as cold compresses or something called as hydro therapy. So you can put a wet sheet on your body so that it cools down your temperature faster. At the same time you also take a pill. But once you are okay, you should consult your doctor for fever because fever is manifestation of multiple reasons. It can be due to various infections or some other process in the body which is casing damage and it is best to show to a doctor why you are getting fever.

Glandular fever is an infection that is caused by the Epstein Barr virus, a kind of herpes. Glandular fever symptoms are typically a combination of high swinging fever, swollen glands in the neck, sore throat, tiredness, muscle aches and pain on turning and sensitive pain in the abdomen, as the liver can become inflamed in some cases. It is infectious and has been dubbed “the kissing disease” and it often occurs in teenagers! It can be hard to distinguish from bacterial tonsillitis so doctors often prescribe antibiotics, however these will not help your symptoms.
The treatment for glandular fever is to drink lots of water, to rest and to take ibuprofen and paracetamol.
Most people recover from glandular fever in two to three weeks, but it’s common to feel tired for a few weeks afterwards.

Most commonly found in tropical regions, dengue puts 40-50% of the global population at risk. With symptoms ranging from fever, rashes, painful joint and muscle aches and vomiting, dengue symptoms can resemble the flu, but it can become life-threatening in a much different way.
Seeker spoke with Dr. Shannon Bennett from the California Academy of Sciences. Dr. Bennett is the curator of microbiology and the chief of science—in addition, she also studies the genetic makeup of dengue viruses.
To understand how dengue spreads, it helps to start with how it gets in.
Enter, the mosquito: specifically a species called Aedes aegypti.
Once the dengue virus gets in through the skin, it will eventually find its way into your lymph nodes and, then, bloodstream. And what is dengue’s primary target? White blood cells.
For those who find themselves sick as a result of dengue fever, sometimes the illness can take a dramatic turn leading to hemorrhagic fever and shock. This happens when your body’s antibodies respond to a second infection of dengue but don’t neutralize the virus the same way they would with the first strain you were exposed to.

Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne tropical disease caused by the dengue virus. Symptoms typically begin three to fourteen days after infection. This may include a high fever, headache, vomiting, muscle and joint pains, and a characteristic skin rash.Recovery generally takes two to seven days. In a small proportion of cases, the disease develops into the life-threatening dengue hemorrhagic fever, resulting in bleeding, low levels of blood platelets and blood plasma leakage, or into dengue shock syndrome, where dangerously low blood pressure occurs.
Dengue is spread by several species of mosquito of the Aedes type, principally A. aegypti.The virus has five different types;infection with one type usually gives lifelong immunity to that type, but only short-term immunity to the others. Subsequent infection with a different type increases the risk of severe complications. A number of tests are available to confirm the diagnosis including detecting antibodies to the virus or its RNA.[2]
Most cases of glandular fever are caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). If you come into close contact with infected saliva and you are not immune (resistant) to glandular fever, EBV will infect the cells on the lining inside of your throat. Video Rating: / 5
